PODIUM FINISHERS DETERMINED IN 2013 TRANSPAC

On the strength of starting in perfect wind conditions, carrying these through the race, and with a comprehensive refit and well-developed performance program on a classic yacht, Matt Brooks’ 1929 Sparkman & Stephens-designed 52-foot wooden yawl Dorade has earned overall victory in this 47th edition of the race, organized by the Transpacific YC and held biennially since 1906. At Thursday evening's award ceremony, Dorade will win the impressive King Kalakaua Trophy as First Corrected Overall Yacht. Under 600 Miles

Hello Westward Fans! We've been busy since our last post. At the time of writing, we have just under 600 miles until our finish, so just a few days left! We have seen a little bit of everything in our last day and a half or so. Westward and her crew have successfully weathered squalls, lulls, big waves, calm seas, blistering sun, and cold.   Latest blog post from the Bell family on Westward: Hello Westward Fans! It's been a pretty active two days for Westward and her crew of Bells. With Monday morning came the expected pre-race chaos and the unexpectedly large send-off crew. By about 11:30 we were off the dock and headed toward the race course. Gayle Anderson was live in Long Beach for the 47th Transpacific Yacht  Race or Transpac 2013, as the second set of yachts prepare to  disembark from Point Fermin in San Pedro at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, July 11th and  the third set on Saturday, July 13th. Started in 1906, it is one of yachting's premier offshore races and attracts entrants from all over the world. The race is organized by the Transpacific Yacht Club.
